Existing shipboard power and controls systems are not able to provide the dimming and control necessary to adjust to the various lighting and atmospheric conditions experienced during at-sea aircraft operations. The Advanced Lighting System (ALS)/Advanced Communication and Control System (ACCS) is a comprehensive ship wide integrated lighting control system. ALS/ACCS will significantly reduce high-power cable quantities, reduce and simplify control cable requirements, reduce operations manpower requirements, reduce lighting maintenance, improve lighting system reliability and situational awareness, and dramatically improve lighting flexibility and capabilities.
