Innovative Control Rotorcraft/Ship Environment Suppression for Enhanced DI Flight Control Keywords: Flight controls, UAV, rotorcraft, aeromechanic and flight simulation analysis and design, instrumentation Abstract: An advanced flight control system for maritime rotorcraft operations, that incorporates information on both rotor blade motion and ship deck motion, is designed to improve vehicle handling qualities and enhance its disturbance suppression capabilities. A 30-year-old technology R&D organization specializing in rotorcraft analysis, simulation, and specialized instrumentation development has targeted initial platforms for this technology to include both manned and unmanned rotorcraft systems in use by the U.S. Navy. Steady development of on-blade rotorcraft sensing systems permits their use as retrofit applications onto existing rotorcraft fleets. Experimental validation of the technology has been performed on model rotor systems, with initial flight test validation expected in spring of 2010. The company seeks an integration partner for incorporating this advanced control system into existing and future rotorcraft. Presentation: Tuesday, 9:25am - 9:45am in Washington Room A Booth: 414 |
